Description
Title: | LZmL_268 - Kalungwishi River abstract, N Zambia |
Caption: | An abstract view of fast-flowing water and brightly coloured algae, taken during a refreshing foot-crossing of the Kalungwishi River. The Kalungwishi is one of several major rivers that drain the Congo Basin waters of Northern Zambia into Lake Mweru on the border with DR Congo. The outflow from Lake Mweru eventually joins the Congo River. Zambia's abundant water resource arises as a result of the country's location astride the Zambezi-Congo Watershed - the Zambezi Basin waters draining east and south into the Zambezi and thence to the Indian Ocean, and the Congo Basin Waters draining west and north via the Congo River and into the Atlantic Ocean. |
